Chelsea's first competitive European match away for
23 years was played against Viktoria Zizkov a huge
presence of travelling Chelsea fans was guaranteed
Gatwick Airport just before departure 29th
September 1994 Viktoria Zizkov away
There was a total alcohol ban so obviously these Chelsea
fans were only queuing to use the toilets after a long
coach journey!
........With the local constabulary
patiently awaiting their turn?
A warm welcome was assured from the local
Army, particular like the casual approach to
footwear.....brown Brogues nice!
Lunch is served...don't get too excited....trust me
Action from the game for which we have to thank Dimtri Kharine for keeping us in.
As you can see from the crowd scene of the opposing fans, it was definitely Chelsea
here, Chelsea there, Chelsea every f******* where!
Dimitri's  30th minute penalty save
helped to keep the game at 0-0
For some of us the excitement of the day was
just too much (sorry Paul had to be done!)
A big thank-you goes to Russ
for his help on the
photographic side of things,
cheers mate

No chance of popping into duty
free then?
This European football plays havoc
on your thirst, especially when
there's an alcohol ban :)
Just a few Chelsea fans gathered before the game....didn't have a great deal of choice as
the local law enforcement 'suggested' we stayed here until the gates were opened!
If memory serves me right about half an hour after this was taken there was a mass
rendition of 'Ten Men went To Mow' as we 'all' decided to sit down on the main
concourse...as you do. The faces of some of the locals was a picture
Unfortunately I never had the chance to obtain any further photographs as the second disposable camera I took was lost and
these were the last few from number one.
I will trawl the net to see what I can lift!

Chelsea fans salute Chelsea after John
Spencers wonder goal to send Chelsea
through on  the away goals rule after a 1-1
aggregate score
A general consensus of opinion was that the score was to be 1
nil !
(Although this was taken elsewhere it seemed like a good link!)

To be continued....
